Testimonials
Starting as an Apprentice in 2017, I was attracted to the role because of variety of sectors and projects the company is involved with. Coming from a BTEC background, I wanted to further my education but I also wanted to “learn on the job” to get an understanding on how the theoretical aspects link with the physical side. I started at the same time as another Apprentice; we study the same course at Sheffield Hallam and have similar rotations at work. Because of this, we are able to support each other immensely through our career here.
There are many aspects of working here that I love. The people that work here are all fantastic to work with. Everyone is willing to help or will point you in the right direction for further support.
I believe that Luxfer MEL Technologies has so much to offer. My practical knowledge of Materials Engineering has increased dramatically and I have met people with great amounts of experiences that are very willing to help with any questions I might have. I enjoy every single minute of working here.
I was attracted initially by the well-structured and competitive higher Apprenticeship Programme and after visiting the site for interviews was charmed by the people and the vast variety of work I would undertake. I joined in September 2017 to study Materials Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University.
My favourite part of my job is the development work and testing samples that I made myself. I love learning on the job and working with such friendly, helpful people. It has been a fantastic experience starting with another Apprentice, as it allows us to support each other through university and our personal development at work.
Upon finishing my BEng degree I hope to work in alloy development and continue with technical support in a growth sector that I have enjoyed most from my rotations.
I joined as an Apprentice Commercial Analyst in 2016. Since joining, I have enjoyed every day and that is largely down to the people – there’s a real family like feeling to the whole place. From the top down, everyone makes you feel welcome.
The company really encourage people to push boundaries and better themselves in every aspect of their career development. I am currently studying L4 Professional Marketing. I really believe in what I can add to our mission and the company have allowed me to branch out and take on more marketing aspects to my role as Market Analyst.
I commenced my career here in 2014 as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice. The company have been so supportive throughout my career to date. I have also been encouraged to complete other training to benefit my department and my personal development. I am now fully qualified and my role involves working on machining, programming and testing of our products to ensure they meet customer specifications.
The environment here is a fast growing and friendly place to be. I really enjoy being part of an innovative company and knowing that I have had an input to our mission and our products; which are used in a variety of industries such as aerospace, automotive, life-changing medical implants and oil drilling equipment.
I was looking for an Apprenticeship that would give me some practical experience alongside my degree. As part of my role, I am studying Materials Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University and I think that the course really compliments the work that I do. I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects and tasks. I would like to further my education and continue to work within the Technical Department on new product development. The best part of working at Luxfer is the culture. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help. There is a great variety of work and no one day is the same.
I joined Luxfer in 2018, joining the Apprenticeship Programme, studying a part-time degree at Sheffield Hallam University in Materials Engineering. Luxfer offers you the chance to learn whilst working and gain invaluable skills – all whilst being paid. You get the choice to create your own path to what suits your skills and what you enjoy. Personal Development is a core value here and this means you will always have the opportunity to push yourself and learn new things every day. After the Apprenticeship Programme I want to continue working here as the job and people are amazing.
I completed a Year In Industry placement in 2009 and was lucky enough to be taken on full time after graduating. Since then, I have worked with a series of different processes and technologies to generate a wide range of products. The most rewarding part of my role is having the opportunity to speak to technical people in Europe, USA or Asia and discuss how best our products can work in their applications.
I really enjoy working here because you aren’t just a number. Everybody is valued and appreciated and there is a real sense of team spirit. Everybody is also encouraged to get involved and submit their ideas and the company are really invested in personal development so there are fantastic apprenticeship opportunities to learn while working.
