
The ability of ceria-zirconia to store and release oxygen is essential for the effective conversion of emissions under varying exhaust gas conditions. The Oxygen Storage Capacity (OSC) of these mixed oxides is influenced by both the ceria (CeO2) content and the minor rare earth dopants (e.g. La2O3, Nd2O3, Pr6O11, Y2O3).
Gasoline engines can reach temperatures in excess of 1000ËšC, and so catalyst durability is essential to maintain performance across the lifetime of a vehicle. Selection of optimum dopant compositions in combination with Luxfer MEL Technologies proprietary manufacturing processes can help our customers meet these demanding applications.
Our extensive capabilities enables us to tune the physical properties (e.g. porosity and particle size) of our materials to suit our customer’s applications. This includes both flow-through and filter type catalysts.
Through the operation of robust manufacturing processes, we can consistently manufacture high quality products with a range of ceria contents and dopant levels. This enables our customers to select the optimum composition for their application (for example to suit particular PGM’s like platinum, palladium and rhodium).
