Our ceria-zirconia mixed oxides provide oxygen storage which is a component of catalytic converters for the automotive industry.

Key features

The ability of ceria-zirconia to store and release oxygen is essential for the effective conversion of emissions under varying exhaust gas conditions. Ceria content, and the specific combination of rare earth dopants will define the oxygen storage properties.

Gasoline engines can reach temperatures in excess of 1000⁰C, and so catalyst durability is essential to maintain performance across the lifetime of a vehicle. Selection of optimum dopant compositions in combination with Luxfer MEL Technologies proprietary manufacturing processes can help our customers meet these demanding applications.

Our wide range of manufacturing platforms and process equipment enables us to tune the physical properties of our materials to suit our customer’s applications.

Through the operation of robust manufacturing processes, we can manufacture products with a range of ceria contents. This enables our customers to select the optimum composition for their application (for example to suit particular PGM’s like palladium and rhodium).
