Luxfer MEL Technologies is a world leader in the development and supply of high quality extruded products. These lightweight alloys are used as forging feedstock, as base material from which to machine components or as custom shapes to integrate directly into a component. Luxfer MEL Technologies operates two dedicated presses to supply a full range of extruded magnesium alloys and we continue to develop new alloys for future applications.

Elektron® Rotamag® is a wrought magnesium base alloy containing aluminium, zinc and manganese. Increased strength is obtained by artificial aging from the as-fabricated form.

Elektron® 43 is a light, high strength wrought magnesium alloy for use at temperatures up to 250˚C. Designs in Elektron® 43 can be 20% to 30% lighter than a corresponding aluminium design. Elektron® 43 is available as rolled plate, forging feedstock and extruded bar, section and profile. Elektron® 43 is an optimised wrought evolution of the original casting alloy, Elektron® WE43.

Elektron WE43B is a high strength magnesium based casting alloy developed and patented by Luxfer MEL Technologies for use at temperatures up to 300˚C. This alloy system maintains its good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, without the use of either silver or thorium. The alloy is stable for long term exposure up to 250˚C. Elektron WE43B has excellent corrosion resistance characteristics.

Elektron® RZ5 is a well proven magnesium casting alloy containing zinc, rare earths and zirconium. Used in the T5 condition, this high strength magnesium alloy is ideal for high integrity castings operating at ambient temperatures or up to 150˚C. In addition to displaying excellent casting characteristics, the alloy is both pressure tight and weldable.

Elektron® 21 Direct Chill Strand Cast is the latest high-performance magnesium alloy specifically developed for demanding aerospace applications. It is designed to provide superior mechanical properties and improved corrosion resistance with an operating temperature up to 200 ˚C.

Luxfer MEL Technologies monoclinic zirconias are high performance, high purity zirconium oxides suitable for use in a variety of electrical and electronic applications where a high level of control of chemical and physical properties is needed.

MELox® yttria stabilised zirconias are high performance, high purity zirconium oxides suitable for use in a range of demanding applications.

Luxfer MEL Technologies high purity monoclinic zirconias are high performance, high purity zirconium oxides suitable for use in a variety of applications where a high level of control of chemical and physical properties is needed.

Elektron 21® is a new high strength fully heat treatable magnesium based casting alloy for use at temperatures up to 200˚C. This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance characteristics and castability.

Luxfer MEL Technologies is the world leader in the development and supply of highly functional magnesium alloys. SoluMag® 1100 is a standard magnesium alloy that has a high dissolution rate in aqueous chloride environments. This lightweight alloy is available as spheres, extruded rods, bars, tubes and profiles to produce components that have strength and ductility in demanding environments as well as a controlled dissolution rate that will effectively dissolve the component in a known time.
